CAPE COD MUSIC FESTIVAL – COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND
Come on out for a Sunday afternoon of Great Live Music, Great Food & Drink for a Great Cause on October 10, 2010 for the first annual Cape Cod Music Festival at the Barnstable County Fairgrounds on Route 151 in East Falmouth. The event is from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. with gates opening at 1:00 p.m. Proceeds benefit the construction of The Falmouth Dog Park. Performing at the festival are: the outstanding Entrain (rock, blues, calypso & ska, zydeco, jazz & funk), the high energy of The Rip-it-Ups featuring members of the legendary NRBQ (amazing blend of traditional rock & roll with lots of blues, Rockabilly, jazz & soul), bluesmeister George Gritzbach and his band, and flashback to Woodstock, baby, with the 60’s & early 70’s tunes of Groovy Afternoon! Cape Cod Music Festival has chosen to host only local musicians and food vendors. The day’s cuisine includes chowder, grilled sausage, hot dogs & burgers, Mediterranean & vegetarian, ice cream & festival fare, along with a beer & wine garden. Great eats will be provided by: The Nimrod Restaurant & Jazz Lounge, Laureen’s Restaurant, Ashumet Valley Farms, Spiral Cone Ice Cream and more. Cape Cod Music Festival is the creation of Stanton Terrell of The Falmouth Visitor Guide & Website and James Murray of the Nimrod Restaurant & Jazz Lounge – the original idea men of the highly successful JazzFest Falmouth in 2008. Cape Cod Music Festival plans to benefit a local cause each year. Dog lovers both, Jim and Stan selected the Falmouth Dog Park for the first year’s event. Stan sits on the board of the Falmouth Dog Park, and being in the tourism business he has seen the increasing trend of people traveling with their pets. We now have numerous visitors bringing their pets along only to be told that dogs are not permitted on our beaches from May to October – the height of vacation season. With dog parks a common feature all over the country, Falmouth—a dog-friendly town—seemed a perfect candidate. The dog park offers an additional benefit for some seniors and people who find it hard to give their dogs a good walk every day. Being off leash, the dogs can exercise and socialize with other dogs. Finally, most town permissions have been granted; just the funding was needed. Generous contributions have gotten the project to the half-way point; CCMF hopes to help move it further towards its goal. Please come and support the Falmouth Dog Park on October 10th and enjoy great music, food and fun with friends this Columbus Day weekend. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12, at the gate. Advance tickets are $20 and are available at www.capecodmusicfest.org. Tickets are also being sold at The Nimrod Restaurant & Jazz Lounge, Uptown Dog Cape Cod, Eight Cousins Book Store and The Falmouth Chamber of Commerce until each location closes on Saturday evening, October 9th. What to bring: ~ Your appetite for great food, fun and music! ~ Beach chair/blanket as this is an outdoor event. Bleacher seating will also be available. ~ Your ticket or receipt if purchased online. The festival will be under cover in case of inclement weather. |
