Red Rover Dog Walking offers free service for Barnstable area cancer patients
Company gives your dog the exercise it needs during difficult times
RED ROVER Dog Walking is offering a new free service to Barnstable area residents who are currently undergoing cancer treatment. This disease affects all family members including the furry ones. Exercise is just as important for dogs because it benefits both their physical and psychological well being and yet it is often overlooked during this time.

RED ROVER is offering this service because its founder, Maria Silva, also walked this road. "I am very passionate about making sure all members of the family including dogs are taken care of during this difficult time," said Maria. In 2007, her husband underwent treatment for Lymphoma. It was an 8-month process during which she found herself overwhelmed and accepting help from all angles.
"One of the most beneficial gifts I received was when a friend offered to exercise my dog," said Maria, "often times going through cancer results in a shifting of priorities and unfortunately the dog was not one of them. It was such a relief to have someone help out in this area".
Aside from the emotional and physical battle this experience entails, financial woes go right along side it. Strength and energy are not abundant during this time for the patient or caregiver, so everybody suffers--humans and animals alike. "As the founder of Red Rover Dog Walking, I am passionate about making sure dogs are healthy and happy", said Maria, "I just wanted to give back the blessings that were bestowed upon me and my family when I was on that journey."
