Banish back to school bad behaviors
Return the Zen to your den
It's back to school time and Red Rover Dog Walking offers these simple steps to return the peace and Zen vibe to your home.
You may miss the kids now that they are back in class and so do the four-legged members of your family. When the household schedule is disturbed, dogs may feel overwhelmed and separation anxiety may occur when you head off to work or when the kids step on the bus.
To ease your pooch into the new fall schedule, Red Rover Walking offers these Zen Den 4 Dogs tips to counter back to school bad behaviors:
Should I correct or punish my dog if they did something wrong? ONLY if you catch them in the act!
Now that school is underway, have you noticed your pooch acting any differently?
If so, they could be experiencing separation anxiety. Think about it, they've been at home with your kids for the past two months and now all of a sudden, it's just you and them, or worse - just them!
Banish the bad with exercise
Bad behavior in dogs is typically anything destructive, such as chewing, digging or urinating in the house. One of the best ways to rectify destructive behavior is through exercise! Take them for long walks (good for you too!) or if you can't, call up a dog walking service like Red Rover.
A quiet good-bye & hello
Another good way to adjust your dog's behavior is to give them low-key greetings and good-byes. Getting your dog worked up and over-excited right before you leave the house is never a good idea.
If you see your dog is not responding well when the humans leave the house, practice periods of isolation in 20-minute intervals. You can do so by putting them in one room while you are in another. They should eventually get used to relaxing and entertaining themselves when you aren't in the room.
And remember, dogs teethe until they are about 18-months-old. Save your stuff by confining them to a safe area before you leave your house.
