Town of Sandwich "Top Dog" contest for residents

If you live in Sandwich, you could be living with the town's top dog

In October, Taylor D. White, Sandwich's town clerk, announced a new contest--Sandwich's Top Dog.  If you are a Sandwich resident, you may be eligible to win one of three prizes.  Just license your canine before January 31, 2010 and submit your favorite photo of your dog for the contest.

If your dog is already licensed, you may participate by renewing early.  Residents with more than one dog may enter each one in the contest.  A copy of a valid rabies certificate is required for each dog entered.

According to White, "I hope this contest draws a lot of attention, and helps in our efforts to license more dogs in the upcoming year. We need to find new and exciting ways to encourage residents to become more interested in the licensing process."

You may license your dog and simultaneously enter the contest two ways:

• In person at the town clerk's office (145 Main Street, Sandwich, MA 02563)
• By mail. Download a form here, and mail the completed form to the clerk's office.

Although the contest began on November 1st, there is still plenty of time to enter your dog before the January 31, 2010 deadline.  Winners including the "Top Dog" will be drawn on February 1, 2010. 

Prices are as follows:

• 1st Prize: Dog Tag #1 and no charge and their dog's picture posted in the clerk's office and in the Sandwich Enterprise as Sandwich's Top Dog.
• 2nd Prize: Dog Tag #2
• 3rd Prize: Dog Tag #3
